Honorable Mentions:*) SpartanX Leadership and Spartan Race (As I closed 2018, I sold Spartan Code, LLC to Spartan Race, LLC which led to a lot of crazy like SpartanX Leadership and watching a dozen Walmartians run the Spartan)!!
*) Walmart World and Local Social (Crazy that these relationships are a year old and still moving forward. Bottom line, here's a great group of people that make everything in the Walmart Local Social and Walmart World magazine happen... Walmart Marketing, Pace, Brand Networks)!!
*) Walmart Rise (In short, this is what we call volunteering in our local neighborhoods. I'm so thankful I have been in a store and with a management team that not only allows this but participates... Here's just one of the half dozen events we helped with last year)!!
*) Kid's Activities (This really should be in the top ten but I broke it down a little more and thus, this generalization of "Kid's Activities" will suffice as an honorable mention this year but more prominent in 2020)!!
Top 10 Moments of 2019:
*) Walmart Rise (In short, this is what we call volunteering in our local neighborhoods. I'm so thankful I have been in a store and with a management team that not only allows this but participates... Here's just one of the half dozen events we helped with last year)!!
*) Kid's Activities (This really should be in the top ten but I broke it down a little more and thus, this generalization of "Kid's Activities" will suffice as an honorable mention this year but more prominent in 2020)!!
Top 10 Moments of 2019:
10) Corporate Speaking (That's right, my first corporate speaking engagement happen early January of 2019, since then, it's become more common but as the first, had to make the list. Want more info: Surge Leadership, LLC!!
9) Scottish Games (I signed up on a whim and then got thrown into the masters group... What I thought was going to be a huge embarrassment ended up being a TON of fun and I actually placed: 9th Click Here)!!
8) My Son's Accident (First, hear me say he is completely fine now... Bad concussion with lots of precautions by the school. That being said, these kind of moments are game changers and legitimately show you how trivial EVERYTHING else is in life.)
7) First Major Hike w/ the Kids (These moments matter and though this was not a 14er, it was the first official mountain for the group... Very excited about Pike's Peak in 2020)!!
6) Saturday Morning Breakfasts (I was in vocational ministry for twelve years of my life, countless breakfasts have been had with probably over a hundred individuals each was meaningful and valued but NONE have been more important than these)!!
5) Sparkappella (Life has a funny way of weaving past experiences and knowledge with future opportunities. If you would have told me I would be using my years of show choir, quartets and singing in my professional job I would have laughed yet here we are... with a real record, yes you can listen to it anywhere music is sold and streamed)!!
4) Shareholders (I don't even know where to start with this... Probably just going to have to go through my social to see everything that happened #WalmartShares BUT if I had to pick one moment, yes even over going on the stage and meeting ALL of our executive leadership team, was the Walmart Ambassadors, by far the most fun and eclectic group I've ever been a part of... "Walmart Famous")!!
3) Berg Family Roadtrips (The first of many more... We are on a quest to visit all 50 states as a family before the youngest graduates high school... Probably my most favorite memories in the entire world: 17 states down)!!
2) Thanksgiving Day Box Suite (Yes, you read that right... FREAKING BOX SUITE watching America's Team play on America's Day in God's Stadium. Okay, that might be slightly over played but the day wasn't. Once in a lifetime opportunity for sure. Why is this not number one... wait and see)!
1) The DDW = JoJo (The year was 1999 and I saw the bright yellow Jeep wrangler for the first time. Up until then Jeep had only made "tweety-bird" yellow but that year they made "solar" yellow and I was hooked... It took 20 years of asking for one at every Christmas and birthday and even kissing her every time a yellow jeep passed by before I finally got it done. Jojo is the original DDW: Don't Die Wonderin' goal and she's "HellaYella" if you were wondering.)!!
As you can see... 2019 was insane. The top seven each could have easily been number one! Craziest part of all of this is a truth I have learned... No matter how rough, sad, hard, empty you feel right now, I promise if you KEEP MOVING FORWARD you will not regret it. The good stuff is coming... Keep going friends. I hope each of us gets clarity for what we've been praying for and finally gets to step out and see it happen in 2020. Good luck and remember BE THE SPARK THE WORLD NEEDS!!!
